These 4-ingredient vegan baked lime tortilla chips are healthier and cheaper than the store bought version and so easy to make!
You only need 4 ingredients to make homemade healthier lime tortilla chips. These baked seasoned lime tortilla chips are made from corn tortillas and require very little oil.
Stop buying store bought chip that are expensive and not so great for you. These homemade baked lime tortilla chips are incredibly easy to make and taste like the kind you would get in a Mexican restaurant.

What kind of tortilla should I use?
I’ve had tortilla chips made from both corn and flour tortilla, and they both taste great! For this recipe (and the traditional Mexican tortilla chip), you should use a corn tortilla.
I like the corn tortilla because they are denser and also less expensive than flour tortilla chips. If you decide to use a flour tortilla, the recipe will be the same but the end result will taste a bit different.

How to bake tortilla chips
Baking tortilla chips is so easy. All you have to do is cut a corn tortilla into triangle-sized chips, coat them in oil and salt and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
When they are done baking, sprinkle with lime zest and salt to taste. And important thing to note about zesting the lime is that you only want to use the green part of the lime skin.
Wash the lime first, then use a microplane or zester to remove the skin from the lime. A little bit of lime zest goes a long way. If you grate the lime down to the white part of the skin, it will taste bitter.
What other seasonings can I use on my tortilla chips?
If you’re not a fan of lime, you can season these tortilla chips in a variety of ways. Spice things up with these suggestions:
- Add 1 tablespoon of chili powder to the chips before baking in the oven
- For a sweet chip, add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Give your chips a smoky flavor with 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- Incorporate 1/2 tablespoon of cumin for taco-night flavor
- If you’re feeling really adventurous, try 1/2 tablespoon of curry powder
If you choose to use these spices, add them to the chips before placing them in the oven.

What to serve with homemade baked tortilla chips
If you make this delicious recipe, you can eat the chips all on their own. But if you want to spice things up a bit, here are some accompaniment suggestions:
- Salsa or pico de gallo (obviously)
- guacamole
- sprinkle some cheese and black beans on top and turn them into nachos
- Roasted Garlic & Turmeric Hummus
- Spicy White Bean Party Dip

How to store homemade tortilla chips
These homemade tortilla chips are crispy. To keep them from getting stale or soggy, store them in an air tight container for up to 3 days.
